  • Chico Malo

    Chico Malo

This project consisted of the remodeling of an existing restaurant dining room, upgrading it to the client’s new concept. We combined rustic and industrial elements in an upscale fashion. Rustic brick was used for the face of the bar and the hostess stand. Exposed metal and glass structures adorn the bar shelving and liquor displays. Breezeway blocks frame the banquette seating, while plush velvet and white leather wraps the seating areas. Many signature pieces were installed in the space, including a floating rooster and a mural crafted from strategically placed books within a fiery display piece!

Translated from the Japanese word “house,” “Uchi” (家) is cozy and inviting, while staying sleek and elegant. This Project was inspired by the hand-crafted tradition of Japan with handmade art made from local creatives and layered materials used throughout the space. Walnut wood and ash art are the predominant woods throughout the project, with a communal table carved from a rare slab of Cuban mahogany. If you want a traditional Japanese experience turned up a notch for the modern era, then look no further than Uchi, right in our hometown of Miami.
